Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office filed a gun violence restraining order against client for domestic violence.
Result
Excellent advocacy by Knight Law led to the dismissal of the gun violence restraining order against client.

Successful negotiations secured a grant of probation for client, no additional jail time and dismissal of five counts.

Extensive investigation, negotiations and advocacy led to reduction to misdemeanor negligent storage of a firearm, no jail time and no probation. Client avoided the following hefty penalties: prison, mandatory minimum of 48 months of probation, permanent criminal protective order, one-year mandatory child abuser’s treatment counseling program, fines and fees and stigma of a felony conviction. Client walked away with no felony conviction, no jail time and no probation.

Client was facing mandatory prison and over 10 years and lifetime sex offender registration for felony charges involving sexual penetration by force, including felony drug charges and felony assault with intent to commit a felony.
Result
Investigation by Knight Law exposed weaknesses in prosecution’s case and case was dismissed entirely. Client released from jail.
