Get a Former Prosecutor’s View of Your Case

As a former prosecutor on a specialty domestic violence team, Nana Knight handled hundreds of domestic violence cases and is known for her work in this field. As a prosecutor, she was known for her unique ability to prove the most difficult cases (such as torture and aggravated mayhem) at jury trials without victim participation.

Having been “on the other side,” she has an insider’s perspective on how prosecutors make filing and charging decisions, how they interact with complaining witnesses and prepare their cases, the investigative methods used by law enforcement in domestic violence cases, the tactics and techniques prosecutors use to prove their cases at preliminary hearings and trials – including the types of defenses that are most effective. Having conducted hundreds of negotiations as a prosecutor on domestic violence cases, she knows the negotiating strategies that produce results.

Nana Knight has trained hundreds of attorneys on domestic violence prosecutions, both in the State of California and out of state, as well as training military lawyers (JAG officers). Her article for the Prosecutor’s Brief published by the California District Attorneys Association garnered attention from many experienced practitioners locally and across the country. An attorney with exceptional credentials, Nana Knight served in leadership positions in her community, including on the Board of Directors for the California District Attorneys Association and on the Board of the Monterey County Bar Association.
